Resort Traveling Essentials – Packing Checklist

IMG_4141

The list every woman needs to check when she travels somewhere warm like the Caribbean!

The Important Stuff

  • passport, ids, tickets, etc.
  • cash/credit cards – check what currency you need
    • bring enough cash to tip the housekeeping staff everyday, bartenders, etc.
      • tip amount depends on where you are headed

Beauty

  • shampoo/conditioner
    • I always head to the dollar store and purchase the traveling containers. You will need one traveling container for conditioner and depending on your hair length, about two for your shampoo. Base how much you normally use in one shower wash as your pour it in.
  • soap/deodorant
  • toothbrush/toothpaste/floss
  • shavers
  • makeup remover/cleanser wipes
    • because when you spend the day out in the sun + Piña Coladas in your system, you will be too lazy to use a cleanser/makeup remover. If you are going with friends pack one for the group! No sense on everyone packing one and using valuable luggage space. Every time I travel and don’t bring wipes, I regret it! Be sure to moisturize after using these.
  • cleanser, makeup remover
    • use a cleanser on your face in the morning because no matter what a facial wipe does not seem to ever do the full job; if you have dry skin like myself, your face will look dull with continued use.
  • moisturizer with SPF!
  • Sunscreen
  • hair serum to control frizz
  • hair dryer
    • If your room does not already provide one.
  • curling iron
    • I would not recommend bringing your straigtener unless you can curl your hair with it because your hair will wave in any Caribbean heat! Also, only bring your curling iron if you know your hair will stay curled with the tropical weather. The best way to test this is to see if your curls hold in rainy weather.
  • brush/comb
    • I personally do not pack this and let my natural waves do their thing. I also usually finger comb my hair to keep my natural waves.
  • nail polish/remover/cotton wipe/nail clipper/file (what you usually require to do your nails)
    • The chlorine will chip away that pretty pedicure you patiently did the day before you caught your flight.
  • A fun, summery, body cream/wash/spray set
    • if you are a beauty product hoarder, fight the urge to bring more than one set! Just borrow your friends set if you get bored ;).
    • I always pack a set that includes a spray with shimmer
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • hair tie/clips

Makeup

This list will vary based on how much makeup your regularly wear

  • Foundation/concealer/powder
    • A lot of people believe that your foundation will melt off your skin in the hot sun, but If you have a good long wear, full coverage powder (MAC offers these!) your foundation should keep intact.
    • Try to use foundation with SPF
  • Lipstick/lip gloss
  • Lip balm with spf
  • Eyeliner (waterproof)
  • Mascara (waterproof)
  • Eyeshadow (cream eyeshadows are the most water/heat resistant)
  • Highlighter/bronzer
  • Blush (cream based)
  • Makeup brushes

    • try to get sets that could be switched at their bottoms/tops!
  • bras/underwear

    • keep your name-brands and good jewellery home
  • hat
